I chose not to charge

Today, I went to the office to discuss and make corrections to a home plan for a client. The meeting went well, and I was able to give the client a plan that suited their needs.

In the evening, I was out shopping with my wife when a contractor and another client called, asking me to visit a site to check the column position. At first, I thought about skipping it, but then decided it was important to go.

At the site, I saw that although the concrete layer (PCC) was done, water was still coming up from the bottom of the pit. To prevent any problems, we decided to raise the footing and add extra concrete. I answered all the client’s questions and told the contractor to go ahead with the footing casting. Since the visit was quick, I chose not to charge for it.

Professional Tips:

  • Be Flexible: Sometimes, responding quickly to client needs, even outside work hours, shows dedication and builds trust.
  • Quick Fixes Matter: If you see issues like water in the pit, take action to prevent future problems by raising the footing or adding concrete.
  • Small Gestures Count: Offering quick visits for free can build goodwill with clients.
  • Fast Response: Handling site issues right away avoids delays and reassures the client about the quality of the work.
