Review the documents before saying NO
Daily Professional Diary - 21 October 2024
Today began with a bit of confusion: should I finish the client's building construction submission drawing at home or in the office? Since it needed to be done quickly, I decided to work from home.
In the afternoon, another client called needing my signature on his permission documents. I wasn't sure at first, but I thought it best to review the documents before saying no. I asked him to come to the office after 6 PM.
Later in the day, I met with a client about a renovation project. I advised him to do a market survey for materials like tiles, doors, and windows so we can finalize the front elevation and proceed with the work on-site.
Meanwhile, another client came for my signature on a permission plan. I carefully reviewed it and then signed. He asked about the payment, and I told him to pay what he thought was fair. To my surprise, he paid more than I expected.
Professional Tips
- Choosing Where to Work: When deciding whether to work from home or the office, consider the urgency and type of task. Home can be great for focused work like drawing submissions.
- Reviewing Documents: Always review documents thoroughly before making a decision. It ensures accuracy and builds trust with your clients.
- Client Meetings: Schedule meetings at convenient times and provide clear guidance, like suggesting market surveys for materials. This helps keep the project on track and shows your expertise.
- Payment Flexibility: Sometimes letting clients decide the payment amount can be beneficial. It shows trust and can lead to higher-than-expected payments.
- Professionalism: Always be professional and courteous in all interactions. Being approachable and flexible can enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.
